Could This Advanced Water Be the Solution for Enhanced Focus and Faster Recovery?

Drinking water is a fundamental necessity for humans, yet between 17 and 28 percent of adults do not consume sufficient quantities of it, thus implying that an increase in consumption would benefit everybody. Water keeps one well by regulating heat, absorbing food particles, digesting food, and expending energy. Nevertheless, a recent new study in the International Journal of Molecular Sciences has declared that hydrogen water may provide better hydration effects than plain water.

"Hydrogen water is just normal water with hydrogen gas mixed in under pressurization," notes Dr. Angelo Falcone, a physician that bridges usual therapies with novel forms of health help and started Dignity Integrative Health and Wellness. Accord-hydrogen-water is like carbonated water—well, just that you have hydrogen in place of carbonation.

"Obviously, hydrogen water ostensibly looks, tastes, and smells exactly like the water we are familiar with, but it is distinct, along with the minute violations of its structure," says Nicholas Perricone, MD, a dermatologist and expert in nutrition and inventor of Perricone Hydrogen Water. "You don't really need more hydrogen to hydrate, but that additional hydrogen might provide some other benefits that you wouldn't achieve just by drinking water," he explains.

"Many early tests hint at good things about hydrogen water, yet the full set of studies is still small in number. Large-scale trials must be conducted for confirmation," asserts Gowri Rocco, MD, who has deep know-how in family health and aging care. Should you put hydrogen water into your health plan? But here's what the pros have to say.

All water has hydrogen, but hydrogen water is not plain water. "Plain water has hydrogen tied to oxygen, while hydrogen water has free hydrogen," explains Falcone. Simply put, it just contains more hydrogen.

The extra hydrogen is thought to work like a powerful body protector that stops inflammation in its tracks and reduces the risk of chronic illnesses, explains Perricone. "You can't just make your own hydrogen water. It has to be in aluminum cans because it escapes through glass and plastic," states Perricone. Thus, you have to drink from the can directly. Do not even think about pouring it out or using a straw—hydrogen is so light that the more you move it, the less gas you'll have. For best results, drink straight from the can as soon as the can is opened.

Most literature seems to suggest from one to about one and one-half liters a day of hydrogen water for intake. According to Falcone, however, not enough studies have been done to support recommended doses. It can be drunk freely, yet Perricone recommends two cans: one in the morning and one toward the afternoon.

Hydrogen water is fairly safe; thus, not having too much of it can really pose a problem. A lot of things, after all, are bad if taken in excess. Rocco further asserts, "There's no known bad level for hydrogen water since your body lets it out when you breathe out. But more does not always mean it works better."

Also, just like with any other supplement, Falcone advises that if you are carrying a baby, nursing, or have long-term health issues, it would be wise to talk to a medical professional before starting regular intake of hydrogen water.
